Founder and President


I'm Neha Sharan, the founder and president of Girls4Chess and I've been immersed in the world of chess for almost a  decade. Throughout my journey, I've participated in over 230 tournaments and witnessed firsthand the underrepresentation of girls in competitive chess. That's why I'm thrilled to introduce ChessForGirls.org, an organization dedicated to empowering and training more girls to play chess.

Hi! My name is Annika and I am the secretary for girls4chess. While I haven’t had much experience playing chess competitively, I enjoy playing it recreationally or occasionally with friends. I’m excited to encourage girls to play not only chess, but all activities where they’re offered equal opportunities!

My name is Ananya and I’m the Media Manager for this organization. I am currently a junior and go to the IB World School at Plano East Senior High. I have been playing chess since 6th grade and I’m excited to be an officer of girls4chess! Apart from chess, I also participate in robotics and singing.

I'm really passionate about promoting inclusivity for the chess community. In my free time, I love painting and building cool things, like the chess organization. I look forward to working in the Girls4Chess and having a great time!!

Yalini - officer

I am Yalini Elango and  very excited to join the Chess4girls organization. I enjoy playing chess with family for fun. I love Taekwondo & playing volleyball. I am a Black Belt holder in Taekwondo and in a Volleyball regional team. I feel empowered to be part of this team and looking forward to learning from the girls I interact with!​

Vishwajith​ -School President

My name is Vishwajith(Vishwa) Kannan. I am currently 16 and a junior in Mountain house high school, CA. I've been playing chess on and off for about 2 years, and am working towards being a titled player. I have played in a few tournaments and have some experience there. My favorite quote is "Don't ever resign when there is a knight on the board. I joined Girls4Chess recently and am happy to make an impact in the society of chess. I'm currently 1500 and hope to be rated in the future. I wish to have a good year here at Girls4Chess and want to learn new things. I love helping people, so feel free to reach out!​
